I use Norton Antivirus 2007, with systemworks, and have never had any issues and would higholy recommend. I cant comment on system performance as I always install Norton immediately after installing XP and never use a machine without it, but I have not noticed any sluggish performance other than a slightly longer boot up time whilst Norton loads, but nothing to worry about.
