Hello
I have been using boinc for a few months. Since a few weeks from now, my firewall regularly reports that it tries to connect to www.google.com What does he want to do that for ? I haven't found anything regarding this matter in the confidentiality policy web page, nor in the FAQ. I searched the forums and didn't find anything either. Thanks Olivier My boinc version is 5.8.15 I run Windows XP SP 2 |

Yes, it does. It is simply testing you Internet connection, usually after a failed attempt to contact the project (World Community Grid) servers.
----------------------------------------This helps to determine whether the project is unavailable, or whether you have a proxy or network problem. In the BOINC messages, you will see lines like this: 11/09/2007 10:22:04||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 11/09/2007 10:22:12||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. There is an advanced configuration option to modify this behaviour (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ClientMessages). [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 26, 2007 3:55:25 PM] |
