Hello. I have 3 computers running BOINC WCG. One of them is a Pentium 4-2.4Ghz that shows 2 units running and is apparently switching back and forth. It think this is causing me to miss deadlines on some units. I only show BOINC being attached to the one WCG Project. Why is this PC grabbing 2 units at once? I can understand my dual core running 2, but am not sure why the Pentium 4 single core would be. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hello jgreenough,
The Pentium 4 is a hyper-threading CPU, which means that it tells the OS that it can run 2 threads at once. You need to create a special profile (Home, Work or School) and assign that profile to your Pentium 4. Tell it to run at most 1 thread per system. Lawrence |
