So I get this only on the HCC WU executing on a win2003 EE system. Do not see it with ddd or other wu. System has 2GB of RAM > 500GB of storage. Do I need to define larger virtual pool or ???

Do I need to define larger virtual pool or ??? The answer is ??? You have plenty of virtual memory. I do not know what went wrong that caused you to use it up. For the moment, run the other projects. Somebody (not me) will come up with an idea. Lawrence |

How much memory is free? How much is used by other processes?
It's probably a stack overflow, though - the techs will look at it. If this is the problem, then this unit will probably fail on all the computers that attempt it, and the work unit will be automatically reported to the techs for further analysis. |

Well free is between 1.7 & 1.9 GB of real ram depending on whats going on. This is basically a file server no real applications executing. The heavest application activity is virus / spyware scanning.
CPU generally rocks between 30 & 70 % depending on activity with WCG typically highest app. But we can peg it to 100% during file transfer of large file and virus scan is doing its thing (rare) Swap was 2046 but looking at new recommened is 3838 so I just bumped it up to see what happens |

As I said, it's probably an issue with the work unit, and not specific to you. If you want to verify this, click on My Grid -> Results Status then click on the work unit in question (in the "Name" column, not the "Status" column") to see whether all the copies of the work unit have failed in the same way.
Remember, you can adjust the percentage of processor time BOINC uses in your preferences - by default it is limited to 60%. |

You may want to disable HCC for now.
There is an identified problem with HCC memory usage, and while I can't honestly see a connection with your situation, the techs will be releasing a new version of HCC sooner or later and there's at least a chance that it will resolve your problem. There have been occasional conflicts with virus scanners, including McAfee. It's a long shot, but you could try a different scanner if that is possible. |
