I am having problems running the HCC work units. The program appears to hang up afterapprox 2 hours cpu time. It will only star again after re-boot.
The present work unit has run for 15 hours and then stopped. In all cases no other program was running. Any one got any ideas? |

Hello Stormin Norman,
No special ideas. Sometimes rebooting is overkill and Suspend - Unsuspend will do the trick. First question - what happens to the progress indicator after a reboot? Second question - what do you mean by stopped? What does Task Manager show? Third question - what are you running? I am assuming Windows XP since you didn't say anything about it but what version of BOINC? Fourth question - is this a new problem on a system that has previously successfully run HCC work units? Assuming that it is a problem only with this workunit, and does not affect all HCC workunits, I would abort the unit and watch what happens to the next one you process.
----------------------------------------If this continues, please copy the messages tab in boinc and paste into this post. It will help with diagnositcs. If you are using the UD agent, please upgrade to bionc as the UD agent is due to be phased out.

Hi crooks_uk,
![]() Happens all the time. I answer a post, then see somebody else answered it several minutes earlier. I like your advice about the Abort. That is a good way to find out whether or not it is a general problem. ![]() Lawrence |

Have tried suspend-unsuspend. next task work unit starts
Using Windows XP and BOINC5.10.28 Task Manager shows CPU 1-2 for task and 80-90 for System Idle Process. Problem has occured with the last two or three HCC runs other work runs run OK. Hello Stormin Norman,
The peculiar value is the extremely low but non-zero CPU usage. My first suggestion is to set the Preferences to run at 100% memory. On my machine HCC likes to grab up to 517 MB if it can. This could be conflicting with your BOINC limit of 473 MB. Lawrence |

Hello Drorion,
Why not reboot, then copy all the message log after things settle down? This will give us more information to work with. Lawrence |

Hi Lawrence.
I'm don't understand what you mean about "things settle down". I'm not a native english speaker.
