Hi Everybody,
In response to your requests, Dr. Garrett Morris and I just updated the homepage of the FAAH website. If you go to: http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ you will notice that the pie-charts on the left now indicate the current progress (as of last Friday, Dec. 14th, 2007). We also added a chart for the experiment that will be performed next (but that has not yet begun). We'll do our best to keep the FAAH homepage as current as possible. Thank you all very much for your help, Dr. Alex Perryman |

many thanks for the update. Looks like we still have a long way to go. Happy crunching all.

Experiment 7b1: 93% Experiment 7a2: 93% Experiment 5: 99.4% Hi, Those 4 experiments must be finished a long time ago... did you stop them ? or the graphic is not up to date ? |

Yea, I was wondering the same thing. Were the experiments completed or were they abandoned?
and there's another one that is marked as on hold. |

Those 4 experiments have been bugging me for awhile now. I hope we can get an answer as to why are they taking so long.

Yea, I was wondering the same thing. Were the experiments completed or were they abandoned? and there's another one that is marked as on hold. Hello again whocrazy and everybody else, I hope you all have a very happy new year! We've just updated the pie charts on http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ again. Experiment 12 is on hold, because Ruth has reserved those particular job numbers. After improvements to the AutoDock code, Ruth Huey needed to do many simulations that scanned the different run parameters used in the calculations. Since the docking code and scoring function have been changed and improved, the best run parameters for the genetic algorithm used in the calculations have probably changed a bit, as well. When she is done analyzing those results, then she'll submit the docking jobs for Experiment 12. Experiment 15 is also temporarily on hold, since we wanted to get results for Experiments 16 and 17 as quickly as possible. Once these two experiments have been completed, Experiment 15 will be initiated. The other experiments (with numbers 5 - 7) are not currently being performed. They are not taking forever--they were either stopped before reaching 100% completion, skipped to allow other experiments to proceed, or their results are temporarily hidden in some obscure archive here. We use up a LOT of disk space for these experiments; thus, some of the data had to be pigeonholed in many different locations when storage space was tight. Perhaps an experiment with the new AutoDock4 code superseded their results? I'm not really sure of the answer to this mystery.......yet. Those experiments were performed long before I came here. I sent an e-mail to Dr. Lindy Lindstrom, in order to hopefully shed some light on this. And since Alex Gillet is re-organizing all of the data while copying it to our new data storage system, if their results are hidden in an obscure archive, we should be able to find them soon. We'll let you know. Thanks for the reminders, Dr. Alex Perryman |

Hi Dr. Perryman.
Can you give us any information about your publishing schedule? What papers do FAAH currently have in draft, peer review, or pending publication? I know the "publish or die" attitude of academia isn't always helpful, but papers are the most immediate feedback we get for all the hard work you (and the crunchers here) are doing. Plus, it's good publicity. |

Hi Didactylos,
Publishing the results is certainly a huge priority of mine, but I am not very good at predicting the timing of such things. As far as I know, nothing is currently in draft, being reviewed, or pending publication; however, that could change in a few months. We'll have to wait and see what the new results show us. Thanks for your help, Dr. Alex Perryman |
