I decided to switch a system from the UD agent to BOINC (Windows 2000 server). The install wizard fails with "The wizard was interrupted before World Community Grid BOINC Agent could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
That has to be one of the most useless messages I've ever seen. |

Hello robert1p,
No answers. I searched for awhile without finding anything. So what security software are you running? Lawrence |

That system is not running any security software - it's on an internal network with firewalls in front of it.

When I tried to install (as a service) on an old w2k server machine it failed and backed out as I gave it a username which wasn't correct, the way it used it. It changed it to username\username, and it fell over. Second time I tried it I explicitly gave it a correct machinename\username and that was fine. Don't know if that's your problem, maybe it's a username thing? (If you are installing as a service). |

It doesn't even get to the point where I can enter anything. It says it's preparing to install, the window closes and then the error mesage 10 seconds later.

Just for the heck of it - I went to the berkeley site directly and downloaded the 5.10.28 version and it works fine. There's something weird with the download wcg points to (or has customized).

Hello robert1p,
WCG has customized its installation package. I will point this out to the techs. Lawrence |

robert1p, can you switch on MSI logging and create a log for us?

The MSI log would be nice. My gut feeling is that it has to do with the code that checks for the UD agent.
Has anyone else installed the 5.10.30 WCG BOINC agent on Windows 2000? thanks, Kevin |
