Temporarily failed download of ...: http error
I just updated my UD agent to the BOINC agent. The installation went smoothly... I believe ;-)

I am behind a proxy server. I have entered its name and port as well as my username and password. From what I can tell, my setup is fine.

However, in the Transfers and Messages tabs, I note that all transfers encounter the same http error. I keep getting messages like these:

- Started download of ...
- Temporarily failed download of ...: http error
- Backing off ... on download of ...

I suspect that my network setup is incorrect.

Can someone help me please?

Yes, we have a proxy server at work... and I have entered its address and port number as well as my username and password. And I know the BOINC client goes thru the proxy since the client downloaded a bunch of png and gif files when I joined the World Community Project.

Sorry, you already said you were behind a proxy. I'm distracted today....

Have you arranged with your sysadmin to use the proxy server for this? A good sysadmin will block you unless you have permission for this.

It is flagged as a temporary error, so the first thing to do is see if it resolves by itself. If not:

You can get much more detailed information by switching on some debug flags: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ClientMessages

http_debug, http_xfer_debug and proxy_debug will give us the lowdown on your problem.

Odd. It should be HTTP/1.1

We have (I think) a similar report recently. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do.

Maybe someone can derive some gain from this discussion/test thread with proxies over at BOINC.Dev forum. Several reported successes and by-passes including nltm proxy
