Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

You are cordially invited to decide what our badge for the Cahuamos trek will show:
This isn't a difficult choice, it's definitely going to be:
3. A giant turtle love struck

(There are many reasons why the marine turtle population is in danger of extinction, but the most remarkable is the human being 🤷🏽♂️.)

With the modest contribution of yodap and little mermaid the Cahuamos
results graph did this:

Pretty cool cool It's the first time I have seen myself make a difference laughing

Great work LM. He'll probably have a stroke Monday when he sees our contribution. shock

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thank you for a fast and unequivocal decision hugs
I'm sure your suggestion will play very well with
the chairman and the members of the Badge Review Committee
peace

I have a feeling you can do nothing wrong there, adriverhoef.
Once, during our memorable top40.nl trek, I asked what this Chairman thought of you,
and he gave this overwhelming and - again - unequivocal answer:

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Are you ready to take off? Bags packed? Charged power banks?
OK!
Fasten your seatbelts. Your welcoming committee will be yodap, tanner2, and little mermaid waving with
shame on you no, no, not the Mexican flag
the UN flag. We are international. peace
New York, USA, Minnesota, USA, and Denmark, so far.

Today we had this exhilarating visit from our former captain,
captain adriverhoef of team top40.nl and crusher of containers – 40 feet oceangoing ones – who had put his Speurneus to work.
That’s Sniffer Dog in Dutch.
Speurneus is a registered trade mark, I noticed.
Anyway, Speurneus sniffed his way all through the internet, nothing left unsniffed, and concluded that Cahuamos had to mean EITHER a large mug of beer (preferably Mexican) OR a giant turtle.
I humbly suggest there could be a spelling mistake and so it could something quite different.
This performance was so exceptionel that I decided it is worth a Rosie. If I’m not mistaken, adriverhoef was awarded one some time ago for all his very valuable and very different contributions to this Forum – not least with his IT insight, but with his music and a finely tweaked sense of humor as well, so the Rosie will be
- for Speurneus. For the first time a dog gets a Rosie.
The speech will be a short one, because Speurneus understands no English as opposed to Louloup, stefada’s handsome Belgian dog, who on his part doesn’t know how to sniff the internet. Yet.

Speurneus, I pin this Rosie onto your collar because you have sniffed so well, still sniffs, and hopefully will pull your master out for future sniffing, when you next sense your services are needed.
Thank you, Speurneus.

adriverhoef decided our badge should be a giant turtle.
The Badge Review Committee, however, has not given the green light yet, but still wants to hear captain cjslman’s interpretation of Cahuamos

I really look forward to seeing as many of ’the usual suspects’ again as possible,
and if Base Camping should attract new crunchers, I should be ever so pleased.

My directions are sketchy to say the least. Those wanting to camp should go to Alameda Central Park and look for a Rastafari orangutan with a huge fruit bowl in a quiet corner. Those who want a solid roof over their heads will come over to me at Hotel Historico Centro, and we'll see what happens.
tongue
Everybody should put Cahuamos
into their GPSs.

♥ See you later ♥ Au Revoir ♥ Auf Wiedersehen ♥

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Little Mermaid.

---------
In fact, Louloup went through the SPA (Society for the Protection of Animals, a sort of national refuge in France). But besides, the person who took it out did not manage to take care of it. And the one to whom he was later entrusted, it was even worse, that he had a dominant dog with whom it did not at all (She bit him soon after I got it back , and he must have had 6 stitches). And in France, there is a rule, which says that if a dog goes to the SPA for the second time, it must be stung (euthanasia).

So. as I already knew a little, I decided to try. And it was not easy every day, that at first, he was afraid of everything, even flies! And the first thing I had to teach him was not to eat the pebbles ... Fortunately, things have settled, but even today, we work to make it more posed. It is that it takes a lot of time, and attention ... (But it makes me at least a thousand times every day)

And when you visit us, I let you talk with him without any worries! I'm sure even in Danish he could understand you. That, to tell the truth, I speak to him in French, in English, in German, in Spanish, in Italian, and in Breton. Just a few words (which I know), but he understands them all. If you tell him "ici," "here," or "Komme," he will come.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

It’s horrible what people do to animals. It it very understandable that Louloup must have lost any confidence in human beings, and that it has been a work of patience to make him calm and trusting again. It must be very confusing to go from being maltreated to being loved and taken care of in all repects. Just look at his bed!

You yourself, stefada must be a special person with the brains and emotions to establish this friendship with Louloup!
That is certainly not something everybody can do.

In addition to seeing all the beautiful scenery in your town and area, I can get to speak any language with Louloup. No other travel agency can offer that!

rose

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

The crew just got bigger - and more international biggrin
We have a crew member from the Lone Star State who goes Base Camping for the first time.
Welcome, Doneske smile and thank you very much for joining us from SeriousCrunchers.
Being the neighbor of Mexico you have saved on travel time
- which will not be the case on your next trek if you find Base Camping is for you.
The next trek will go to Maine, and I just realized it wasn't the best of timing,
as we'll probably land in the middle of the black fly season.

Have you been to Mexico before, Doneske?
If so, is there something in particular you would recommend we should visit?

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Little Mermaid

----------
It took me three months, just so he was not afraid of me ... It's a very long job, which is not over yet.
But every day, we advance. And, I believe, the photos 'talk'.

And you've 'unmasked' me, I'm a very sensitive person. Not for nothing that I was Firefighter Volunteer at 17, and that after 5 years, I stopped, that it was too much. The biggest regret of my life, do not have the strength to sign to do 5 years more ... (I do not wish anyone to have to 'pick up' a dead person)

Louloup, it's not the same, it's life to death. That when I got it back, I was not doing well. We escaped each other ....

Spring is coming, the next pictures, it should be freebee or swimming! I must give him courses in aeronautics and hydraulics ...
