Heres what you do. Measure out 1/2 teaspoon of rice. Count the grains. Determine the volume of the bowl. Use these conversion factors
3 tsp = 1 tbl 2 tbl = 1 oz 8 oz = 1 cup 4 cups = 1 quart 4 quarts = 1 gallon = 128 oz Its a matter of guess work. There is no such thing as a "standard" bowl, so I have no idea what the volume is. Go into your kitchen, grab a bowl out of the cupboard, fill it with water and then dump it into a measuring pitcher. Do this with a few different bowls and get an average. The average formula is as follows: (Volume of bowl # 1) + (Voulme of bowl #2) + (volume of bowl # 3) + .... DIVIDED BY the number of bowls you tested. Rice will increase in volume 3 times when you cook it. Oh, by the way , you can't convert volume into weight. Its impossible. It would be the same thing as trying to convert inches into pounds. play and crunch on  |

I registered so I can keep track ... not sure I'll be able to reach my target of feeding the equivalent of myself and my family (total 4 of us) with donated rice and water. Water is easy to accumulate but rice is harder.

I only mean that by joining a group (like a team here on WCG) then we can see the cumulative efforts of our group looks like compared to other teams ... What did you think I meant by pool?
