Re: The Coffee Joy Thread

Was ''troppo tarde'' today with the caffé grande [American [Starbuck] quantity, in Italian forte], but this one really hit off the buzz between the ears: Lavazza Rossa... an aftertaste like there was excess burning of the beans and the water to prepare way to hot... Got that traditional half cup of water after the Caffé to rinse. And milk or sciuma in/on the coffee... lately, no thank you. We like it black as the night these days.

Re: The Coffee Joy Thread

"My friend handed me a cup of coffee at his home. It was smooth, with a very distinctive aroma. I sipped it, and it was “darn” good. He told me that it was a blend of 100% pure Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. "

Blue Mountain has been the 'choicest' of gourmet coffees since the 1960's, it featured in at least one James Bond novel, (Live and Let Die) as the coffee of choice for Mr Bond. He drank it at breakfast, I think

Funny how a factoid from a book I read forty years ago sticks in the mind.

Here I drink Illy Espresso, 100 % Arabica. I use the empty tins to store my desk impedimentera; pencils and so on. I make the coffee in a Bialetti Moka pot, which is slowly dying. I know I can get replacement seals, but I find it messy, and it has burned my hand a couple of times.

What machines/methods do WCG coffee drinkers use at home? I am resisting the urge to buy a Tassimo, because George Clooney has one.

Re: The Coffee Joy Thread

German Build: Krupps... they last very long compared to anything, and like Italian shoes, infinitely longer than the home [stylish] brands. It does the coffee, no quantitative control... you have to regulate yourself how long to let it pump water through the coffee grind [15 ATU] and a side rod for steaming the milk for the cappuccio, if you like that.

As for the traditional gas systems like Bialetti, that's practically in every Italian home.

Any supermarket of size has half a rack of parts for these, seal rings, filters, grips... like almost ISO in standard. Got one that does exactly 1 double espresso... it's in blue enamel. Many years ago bought in a small store up in the Dolomites [Moena]. Very portable. The lower part is seriously blackened.

Re: The Coffee Joy Thread

^^^ Thank you.

I should have mentioned that the coffee making thermal input in my office is not the i7-2600 under my desk, but an induction hob. Induction hobs don't like alloy coffee pots.

I may have to go with some sort of patent Kruppsian electrical contraption, my blackened vintage leaky Bialetti is currently heated with a camping stove. It's liable to set the entire place alight.

Re: The Coffee Joy Thread

Did you read it in the papers yesterday, such as here http://www.medpagetoday.com/PrimaryCare/DietNutrition/37968 ... long haul truckers make 60% less accidents if they drink caffeinated coffee on their raod road trips. For me, not having my quadruplo in the morning sure causes more typos in the foreign tongues ;P. Currently enjoying a blend with 90% Arabica, ground myself of course, and sure it's giving a buzz. :D

P.S. Don't buy your coffee at McD... since the old lady sued them over scolded parts [or was it scourged or singed?], they serve it luke warm ... yuk.

No diabetes dedicated thread, but one for coffee there is, drink more than you did before to lower your risk or improve your type 2, Drink Up: More Coffee Could Lower Diabetes Risk My afternoon 14 ounce mug in liquid form is ready, some gold import blend of arabica with whiff of robusta, kept in a vacuum container to best retain the smell and taste.
