The below transcript of a short conversation in the only coffee bar I know in 10 mile radius reminded me of Didactylos question:
----------------------------------------time: Morning, Pre-church location: Café Verona where am I: Standing at bar having my long coffee with cornetto -Man walks in with classic Italian 3 day stubble and walks up and speaks: Caffé -Girl behind bar, 178cm (she told me so), slim, straight from Milano catwalk: Normale o Ristretto? -Man replies: Curto, Ferne -Girl turns around puts cup under dispenser, draws the hi pressure handle down and hits the button for the electronically controlled the right measure of black gold, whilst grabbing the Ferne Branca of which she pours a solid shot into the Curto whilst turning around to put the cup in front of customer. -Man downs coffee, eyes getting a bit bigger obviously enjoying what he was expecting, sighs and speaks: Church waiting! time: Morning, Pre-church location: Café Verona where was I: Standing at bar having my long coffee starting on second cornetto with marmalade, reading the gazetta dello sport. Another morning in the campagna coming to an end. (tune in head "I'm so exited, i cant deny it....", coffee induced) ![]()

At Last, a $20,000 Cup of Coffee
----------------------------------------With its brass-trimmed halogen heating elements, glass globes and bamboo paddles, the new contraption that is to begin making coffee this week at the Blue Bottle Café here looks like a machine from a Jules Verne novel, a 19th-century vision of the future. Called a siphon bar, it was imported from Japan at a total cost of more than $20,000 ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 24, 2008 1:02:52 AM] |

My friend handed me a cup of coffee at his home. It was smooth, with a very distinctive aroma. I sipped it, and it was “darn” good.
He told me that it was a blend of 100% pure Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Has any one else tried this Coffee? |

Interesting.. Wikipedia says that it is mostly exported to Japan and is also used as a flavor in the Tia Maria liqueur. Maybe we can manage some group order to have this to our European breakfast tables

Got to be Nescafe for me, lots and lots of it. Also have the nescafe pod machine, very scrummy and enjoyed when I can afford the pods.

Has any one else tried this Coffee? Now I have. Found it from a luxury coffee stand, where it was grounded from fresh beans. The price tag was 110euros/kg, so definitely the most expensive coffee I've tried so far... Then again, the scent of a fresh coffee beans spread around the train when I carried it home in my backpack. The taste. It's smooth and the flavor is great. It somehow reminds me of some coffee I've tried earlier, but can't remember what it was. As a conclusion, if you can afford it, go for it. But there are similar and much cheaper choices as well. Again, thanks for the tip Bob F! And cheers ![]()
