Hi Kathryn, Good one for a WCG Start Here forum FAQ together with Didactylos' solution. Think the WCG version of the BOINC installer takes care of creating that file and attaching, so it's something specific to those coming from outside WCG or those choosing the vanilla BOINC and doing e.g. a clean install. Yes, the vanilla BOINC creates the file when you attach to a project. If, for whatever reason, you can't attach through the manger, you can still attach by dropping that file in the directory and restarting BOINC. Or if you end up needing to do a clean install because of corruption of the directory or whatever you can do the same. Just move those .xml files out of the bad directory, uninstall BOINC, delete the bad directory, install BOINC but don't let it start, drop those files in the new directory and restart BOINC. BOINC will automagically go through the attach process without you doing anything. |
