How can I set the number of work to be downloaded?
I have several quad cores, and sometimes they ran out of work when my internet is disrupted for like 1 day or so!! I am hoping that I can get a week's worth of work, so my computer will be able to crunch during times when internet is out. Also, sometimes in my area I will go without internet for as long as 1 week. I have set up the device profiles in WWG, but don't know what value will affect the number of work it will download whenever BOINC connects to WCG. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------The amount of work distributed to a client is not determined by volume, but by estimated duration of each task, which is different per project and adjusted continuously as the client proofs its speed of processing. Getting a whole week needs following done. 1. Obtain and install the latest recommended client, which depending on platform can vary. It must though be of the 5.10.x version. 2. Visit the Advanced Menu, Local Preferences in the BOINC manager 3. Go to the Network tab and set the connect time to 0.1 days and the additional buffer to 7.00 days. It will take some time to fill up the buffers as the transmission limit is 10 per contact and like 50 per core per day. I'd recommend to deselect DDD-T project as those jobs are short in the present series thus eating quickly into the daily 50 quota. FA@H and HPF2 on a quad run about 4-5-6 hours each (don't know how fast the quads are), thus 4 cores x (24/4 hrs per job) x 7 days is about the volume you need to fill a week. That is 168 units. Let us know how you fare.
