You need to find out what the real cycles are while BOINC is running. In Windows a utility used often is CPU-Z. BOINC i think just picks up the CPU identifier i.e. the stock information.
----------------------------------------Maybe a Linux connoisseur encountered this before, with the science running at the 'Nice' priority.

Hey thanks for bringing up CPU throttling.
I checked and it seems like the throttler was not taking into account tasks that were running "niced" (Which FAAH always is.) The CPU was throttled at 350Mhz! I made the config change and will now try a few packets. |

You may want to inspect CPU temperature, e.g., via the lmsensors tool. If it is too hot then you may decide for a better fan (or an improved contact with the processor). The question is, though, why the problem was not found under Windows.
