Mediocre day for me ... better one tomorrow ... (???)

The WCG newsletter today indicated some improvements in team email communications for Team Captains and their members. How about our own news letter, Keith? Heck, WCG only sends out one a year. angry Perhaps some of our old members would reactivate again with a personal email. Long shot but might be worth a try.


Dataman, I'd LOVE to be able to email team members. WCG doesn't email a user until they've been inactive for FOUR months. I'd rather not wait that long. Besides, it would be nice to be able to send a personal welcome to a new member when they joing the team. Unfortunately, all I can do is send an email to the entire team - entire as in those few that have opted in to receiving emails from me. That doesn't let me do individuals. For the folks that register for our website, I have an email address that I can at least try. Again though, that's a small number of folks. This is one of the things I've really noticed about the other projects. A team captain there can see the team members' email addresses. WCG is big on privacy. I can understand that but it would be nice if joining a team opted you in to letting the team captain see your addresss by default.

Sorry Kieth. I must have had my glasses on upside down and read more into the newsletter than was really there. nerd Too bad as "communication" is usually a good thing.

I am going to have some of the machines down for a while over the next two days. I have 2 with CPU temp's >140F (60C) and 1 at 150F (66C). I need to restack them in the racks and try to improve the air flow and reduce the heat load. Since I have them down I may as well perform the semi-annual "blowing out the dust" and fan cleaning. kiss I hope to have everything back up by Saturday.

Looking at the CompuDude and marysduby milestones, they are both quite impressive. It is hard to imagine their full magnitude! As for our active ranks, we lost dkrawczynski today and Daragaaz yesterday. We are doing very good given the number of members returning a result each day but we need to get more members returns results each day. Back in the spring, we could usually have sixty or more members returning results each day. We run in the fifties now. Another five to ten would make a big difference!

Regardant CompuDude et les étapes importantes marysduby, ils sont tous deux tout à fait impressionnants. Il est difficile d'imaginer leur pleine grandeur ! Quant à nos rangs actifs, nous avons perdu dkrawczynski aujourd'hui et Daragaaz hier. Nous faisons très bon donné le nombre de membres renvoyant un résultat chaque jour mais nous devons obtenir à plus de membres des résultats de retours chaque jour. En arrière au printemps, nous pourrions habituellement avoir soixante membres ou plus renvoyant des résultats chaque jour. Nous courons dans les années '50 maintenant. Encore cinq à dix feraient une grande différence !
