Wow! Today was quite a day! Lots of great milestones and a number of considerable accomplishments. dub4u rejoined our active crunching ranks today. Jonathan Figdor had quite a good day today. Arthur256 continues to put up considerable numbers. Tomwp is three quarters of the way to becoming a MOT millionaire. All great results that bring us closer to our real goal.

Makes perfect sense to me, SS. While altruism is a great thing ... it does get expensive!!! Electricity (for now) is not that bad here. I figure it costs ~ $10 USD/machine/month to run them. But then that is ~ $1,100 USD/year that I could have spent on good whiskey and bad women!!!! I am going to have to significantly curtail my activities by next May. My problem is heat and what to do with it. While the individual machines are not a problem, the total heat load in my office is. It is OK now as we go into winter ... I just have to open a window wider. But come next May-August when it is 90F (32C) in the office and 108F (42C) outside that is not an option. Additionally, I have to run a humidifier as the humidity routinely drops to a single digit. Putting in extra chillers (and the associated electrical expense) to cool one side of the office while I heat the other side seems a bit ridiculous even by my goofy standards. Consequently, I will have to shut most of them down. I have to wonder if there are ways to take advantage of that heat. Yes, in the wintertime, you can offset your heating costs with it - and some good indoor air circulation. In times that you don't need the heat, could there be some way to capture it and use it to generate some amount of electricity? Offsetting your electrical needs in the summertime could be useful given the usual expense of cooling then. So many of our means of generating electricity are basically using heat to drive the generating process. |

Thanks so much! Do you know if there's a way to add one's daily stats (point generated per day)? Jonathan, I am afraid not. I have not seen any of the statbox generators provide that. It is an idea to keep in mind though. |

Somehow, I just can't see the local council allowing me to construct a power station in my back yard. I did think about a wind turbine, but there's the matter of maintaining the darned thing. |

I'm actually quite surprised myself. All I have are an Alienware desktop at 3.6 ghz and an AMD 2.4 Ghz laptop. The laptop does run 24 hours though.
I'm going to talk about the WCG project in my classes monday, tuesday, and wednesday and I hope I can get some people to join. 09: Jonathan Figdor - 5,007 points Jonathan ... my old eyes totally missed this one Top ten already????
