Johnathan -- You got some very good tips there. Before investing any money in it, try cleaning it as was recommended. It is amazing how much dust will collect in PC's. My sons cleaned one of mine out for me a few months back and If I rolled all of the dust balls up that came out of it, I could probably have wrapped it in leather and would have had a nice softball -- lol Johnathan, first let me add my welcome aboard too! Now we can lay claim to having our very own Cambridge man! As for your heat issue, my work laptop is a P4 and it has always run VERY warm. I've never bothered taking its temp though but the fan exhaust is always toasty. I recall when I got some additional memory for it, I was surprised just how much dust had accumulated inside. I've seen plenty of folks note that just cleaning that out makes quite a difference. I know that using my P4 laptop in my lap gets uncomfortable rather quickly and always has. Just the way they are it seems. So far, my C2D machine runs much cooler and it is much more practical in the lap. At least with the P4, you can save a bit on your heating this winter! ![]() |

Indeed Dataman, about the middle of next week roughly I think. My guess is that you will hit one million team points just in time to be a nice Christmas present to yourself! OK it is a challenge ... I'll do a million before Christmas!!! "I don't care who you are fat man!! Get them darn reindeer off my roof." ![]() edited for language...cih ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 23, 2007 12:47:11 PM] |

For those of you wondering, I'm trying to sort out all the major aspects I want to include in the new website and get set up with a hosting company. I prefer putting the time into this now and not having to redo things later. I'd like to make the new location our last location and try to cover as many of the "contingencies" as I can. I also firmly believe in letting the machine do as much of the work as it can. I'm quite a fan of automating regular tasks. Also, I want to exploit the opportunities that this will provide too. I have a lot to learn about all that this will entail of course but that's just part of what has to be done. It never happens fast enough to suit me of course but I have to admit that I think I am getting a better understanding of what it must be like to run a non-profit. I promise I will do all I can to make the wait worthwhile.
----------------------------------------I also want to say thanks to spikey_richie for all his efforts on our last site. He provided that at his own time and expense. Unfortunately, we managed to find ourselves somehow in the crosshairs of one of the many lowlifes out there through no fault of Spikey's. Spikey spent plenty of time helping me get up to speed with the site when I took on my current role and I am most appreciative of that. |

Dave Bell and Silver Surfer look to have gotten themselves into a bit of a horse race. It sure looks that way, but I am sure he will ultimately pass me by. My usual daily is a bit less than I see Silver Surfer producing. I'm just proud to crunch along with him and the entire team! |

Of course, if you send me the money to purchase 8 quad's, I'd be glad to install them. For now this is the best I can do. ![]() ![]() |
