Send a message to bbover3 if he think tanks that participants like "biopharmaceutical executives and venture fund managers" are the right audience for selling volunteer computing.

No, Sekerob - I think getting the message to the other attendees is the important bit. Maybe the services of World Community Grid may allow some researchers out there to avoid selling their soul to those "biopharmaceutical executives and venture fund managers"....

IBM representatives do attend conferences and spread the word - I don't know whether anyone is going to this one, though.

In other words, a defensive role: reculer pour mieux avancer n'es ce pas?

"In other words, a defensive role:"

Sorry I must be a bit thick but I'm seeing a gathering of individuals who's vocation is Cancer Research.

We have a free supercomputer that can provide them with 200 years every day (at the moment) of processing that they could achieve with their desktop computer.

I think they should be aware of such a resource

So that they might think big about the possibilities for their research instead of being constrained by what they think are the realities.

It might just take the meeting of minds between one researcher and IBM's WCG and we would have yet another project that could make a huge difference in the quality of life of a cancer sufferer

defensive - hat wearing - I don't give a monkey's

Just that the folks who can make a difference know we are here.

Re: Anyone going to represent the World Community Grid?

If no one from IBM is going is there anyone in Hong Kong who could arrange handing out WCG Flyers outside the venue?

Re: Anyone going to represent the World Community Grid?

David --
I believe that they are quite aware of the potential assistance that we can provide here. One of the partners listed for the forum is National Foundation for Cancer Research. If you check their website, you will find the following:
The NFCR Screensaver/LifeSaver Project has been a tremendous success and we would like to thank the 3.5 million people from over 200 countries around the world that have worked together to create the world's largest supercomputer and commit their resources to this ground-breaking research effort. After careful consideration, the NFCR has decided that with so many results from the Screensaver Lifesaver Project still being processed, synthesized and tested, we do not at this stage intend to embark on screening new targets at this time. We urge everyone to stay engaged in Peer-to-Peer Projects and feel strongly that this is a new platform for scientific research. If you are interested in participating or knowing more about other projects please connect with our friends at the World Community Grid at www.WorldCommunityGrid.org.
