Re: Can the Octo Core be far behind?

Looking closer into the expansion possibiilities, it seems we have 128 cores! Getting closer to main-frame capabilities! Can't see that using only one watt! Goodbye X86!

Re: Can the Octo Core be far behind?

Shall we all wait for Hexadecimocore?

That's what this is:
Sun has announced the Rock, which will be a 16 core.

Re: Can the Octo Core be far behind?

Nearly there

http://multicore.amd.com/us-en/quadcore/

I have had this motherboard now since 2002 An Asus A7N8X deluxe it's a nForce2 Board. It started out (after I left my last Intel behind - 733Mhz P111) with a 2100+ then a 3000+ and now the fastest Socket A Chip 3200+ with it's 400Mhz FSB. I finally made it to SATA and then onto SATA Raid (striped) 60Gb ->500Gb. It still has one of those old fashioned AGP sockets but that hasn't held it up too much starting out with a GeForce 4200 TI and now a GeForce 6600GT. Memory up from 256M to a Gig. All that time with XP Pro.

Now that has to be the best value motherboard buy ever

Do you think I would notice a difference if I moved on up to a 4 Core Phenom?

Re: Can the Octo Core be far behind?

apologies in advance for my ignorance but . . .

what is "valve" in computer electronics/cpu context?

do you mean 64 core? if not what is "64 gig"? Memory chips?

Thanks.

Valve is or was Brit for "vacuum tube". The early computers certainly used enough of them. That agrees with this "valve timeline".

Re: Can the Octo Core be far behind?

vvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaalllllllllllllvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssss

international plot to enforce the allready enforced use of vvaalvess

by the russian military

the theory being if ww3 started the russians would still be flying after life on earth ceased

while the americans would be down

the advantage probably swiss nuclear fallout shelters

its a very powerful mental blank that only the usaf are used to dealing with
