Bonic Status: suspended user active

I am running bonic under Vista home basic with a intel C2D 4300 and 1 GB Ram. Suddenly it has stopped work and I am getting this under theTASKS tab Status. Am I being stupid or is something wrong? I have tried rebooting, pausing and resuming the tasks nothing changes it status. Bonic is also installed on my laptop and is running fine- my son is using it and it is processing data fine! Thanks in advance foe any help, and im sorry if I have asked a stupid question blushing

Re: Bonic Status: suspended user active

Hello nathanll,
We are developing BOINC 6.0 to run on Vista. Currently there are a number of potential problems with work-arounds, as explained in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856

The usual problem is caused by installing BOINC in Program Files, rather than in a separate directory like C:\BOINC. The Vista security system will stop BOINC after a reboot if it is installed in the Program Files directory.

Re: Bonic Status: suspended user active

Is the exact message "Suspended user active" or "Suspended - User Active"?

What BOINC version and have you been playing with the website or local options shortly before this happened? oogling around, one possibility is that you told it to not run when user is active or you set time periods for it not to process.

Re: Bonic Status: suspended user active

Hi nathanll,
Go to My Grid - Device Manager and click on your BOINC profile. Is 'Do work while computer is in use?' set to Yes?

confused
thinking
Well, there are possibilities. For example, it is possible to suspend tasks or projects in the BOINC Manager by clicking on a tab. But as long as it is working - - - great!

Re: Bonic Status: suspended user active

I have the same problem with one computer (XP).
To resolve it I change the profil of this computer to defaut (before "work").
Since it's work correctly

Exit BOINC, restart and post the message log which tells a thing like the below and identifies exactly which profile is attached to the client and to modify (website profiles - default, school, work, home thru *custom profile* or local preferences identified as 'override')
04/08/2007 11:28:29||Host location: none
04/08/2007 11:28:29||General prefs: using your defaults
04/08/2007 11:28:29||Reading preferences override file

Either be patient or hit "Update" in the Project Tab (advanced view) of BOINCmgr to have the changes take effect.
