I searched the forums for references to a screensaver for Linux just like there is for Windows. I didn't find anything promising. So, my question is just that... is there a BOINC screensaver for Linux? It seems like it might be difficult to add it to the list of screensavers in Xscreensaver, but maybe it's possible to subvert that.

No. Oddly enough, it's rarely requested. So far, nobody has bothered to provide one (that I know of).
