Bad/missing account key

I have just installed BOINC, and whenever I try to connect, I get the following messages:

7/2/2007 12:45:54|World Community Grid|Message from server: Invalid or missing account key. Visit this project's web site to get an account key.
7/2/2007 12:45:54|World Community Grid|Deferring communication for 1 hr 0 min 0 sec
7/2/2007 12:45:54|World Community Grid|Reason: requested by project

How do I clear / get a new account key?

Thanks

Bob

Re: Bad/missing account key

Check you have a BOINC account key in your profile: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProfile.do

Then detach from WCG and try attaching again.

This is an unusual error. Are you doing something odd, like using a very old version of BOINC, or trying to attach from the command line?

Re: Bad/missing account key

I had BOINC installed on one computer, and have changed to another computer. I think the roaming profile setting messed me up a bit.

Is detaching and attaching the same as uninstalling and installing BOINC? I have uninstalled several times with no joy.

Re: Bad/missing account key

Uninstalling leaves behind some files. This lets you upgrade without losing your settings and work in progress. Detaching removes the account information from the client state.
