hello, I run boinc 5.9.3 on gentoo 64 bit, planning to install 5.9.5 inorder to receive work from qmc, but I understand that wcg isnt sending work to 64 bit linux clients in that version, when can we expect 64 bit linux support in that version?

We have four other projects coming up in the next few months, so the staff will be spending most of their time on getting those going.
----------------------------------------There wasn't much gain in going from 32 bit to 64 bit, so it's not a high priority at the moment. You still should be able to run it in a 32 bit partition.

Not sure why your are planning to install a very alpha 5.9.5 when 5.10.8 is out, but still in testing (hearing of few problems). In anticipation can you post the start up log messages from your client and post them (OS / hardware info bits) . The acid test is of course to attach to www.worldcommunitygrid.org and post the log entries if it fails. Didactylos will be able to help you along if there is hope, or take all hope away, which we dont hope of course :D

like I've said before, I run QMC in additon, like wcg, they send 32 bit units to 64 bit but only from version 5.9.5
I want to reveice work for both projects. inorder to properly install this versions under gentoo, I need to custimize an ebuild, changing from 5.9.3 to 5.9.5 is easier then ro 5.10.8 the newer currently version which is supported it 5.8.15 I dont know when they will support the new versions. they say that they wait until the versions will be more stable. |

Okay so QMC sends 32bit to 64bit clients now. At any rate, Didactylos is the Linux expert.... he may come round here eventually.

As I recall, WCG pioneered the code for sending 32bit work units to 64bit clients. It has always been possible, but it needs configuring on the server.
Just attach to WCG, and let us know if anything goes wrong. One of the WCG techs has added support for all the common 64bit platforms. |

I've downgraded back to 5.8.15 cause 9.5.3 was unable to upload completed tasks.
I got this message all the time: Wed Jul 4 17:01:43 2007|World Community Grid|Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) when downgraded, the completed tasks were uploaded without any problems. |

That's an all too familiar and seen with the test x64 BOINC distributions and for Linux. You've been missing a key security file ca-bundle.crt, pretty much only used by WCG.
