Re: boinc 5.10.7 question

Hello Hintsala,
There may be a better way, but I would exit BOINC. Then uninstall BOINC. Then run the downloaded install .exe.

Re: boinc 5.10.7 question

Hintsala, you were just really unlucky. 5.10 was the Berkeley "recommended" version for maybe a day or two before it was withdrawn. WCG never made it their recommended version, they prefer to wait until they are sure the new version is stable before making it the official version.

Re: boinc 5.10.7 question

How do I switch them out. I am downloading the 5.8 now but it will take a while as I am on dialup. no cable in the boonies where i live. Then what? Thanks for all your help. I can't believe how crappy the switch has turned out to be. WCG agent was very stable but the points stunk.

When going down in version numbers, you must uninstall the current version through add/remove programs. All your project files will remain. Then install the older version.

If you don't, you'll end up without any of the .exe files in your directory. This is easily solved by doing a repair install. But why run the installer more than necessary? :)

And yes, Rom is aware of this. I reported it to him and David a couple months ago.

Re: boinc 5.10.7 question

I have the 5.8.16 running and it seems to be ok. It doesn't allow you to add more days worth of WU's apparently but that is ok as long as it keeps crunching. Thanks for everything

Re: boinc 5.10.7 question

That seems odd. The my grid/device manager/boinc profiles: default, home, school, work can be changed independently. The number of days between network connection determine this.

<work_buf_additional_days>1.000000</work_buf_additional_days>

Only works on 5.10.x
Only accessible via the 5.10.x advanced local prefs screen AFAIK
