I would like BOINC to only run when my computer is idle for 1 minute. I have gone into the preferences and changed this setting, and click saved. When I go back into the preference view, it reverts back to Run Always.
I have also gone to my world community grid account page and applied custom settings under device manager so it only runs after being idle for 1 minute. However, this does not work. Is there something else I have to do to get this to work? I am running Windows XP with an Intel Core 2 Duo. As an aside, the ideal situation would be to have boinc auto-pause when I am running a certain resource-intensive program that I use often. This is essentially the reason I want BOINC to only run when idle. I do not know if this is possible, but if it is, this would be a suitable solution. |

One version of BOINC has a bug with this preference. To work around it, set your preference on the website, then go into the BOINC preferences and uncheck the box saying "I want to customise my preferences for this computer only". This will allow the BOINC agent to use your website preferences.
Your agent will get the preferences from the website the next time it communicates with the server. You can do this manually by going into Advanced view, and clicking Update after selecting the WCG project. |
