Hi Steven,
----------------------------------------Yes, when on battery, the cpu cycles are reduced by utilies like Speedstep for Intel CPU's. I'm a bit surprised UD runs at all because on battery it's not supposed to run Never, there not even known to be a work-around to force that. I need to ask the technicians. Maybe the UD program is testing if you are still running on battery, that's fine but should not interfere with operations. What Laptop brand and type number are we talking? Is the client running in default 60% CPU throttle? You can see that in the UD Agent Graphics display. That 60% default was specially introduced for Laptops and other temperature controlled speed switching CPU's.

okay, unless anyone else has ideas why the UD agent, when running on batteries would cause these 6 second intervalled freezes, I'm going to ask the technicians. Toshiba is not mentioned AFAICS on the boards with this problem, but there is discussion in below thread of a utility called Toshiba Console where the answer may be:
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=3147 ciao Errata: The UD Tweaker mentioned in the thread linked above should NOT be used. It's known to damage work units. The warning is repeated at that threads end.

Steven Langston, in theory the UD agent should pause the moment you disconnect AC power. Is this not the case?
If you would prefer an immediate workaround, may I recommend the BOINC agent? Download it here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadBoinc.do?newMember=false (pick the BOINC option). |
