current agent version and update

sorry if this is obvious, but i couldn't find the info on the site or by searching.

i'm trying to find out what the latest version of the UD agent is, since i downloaded the agent a couple of months ago and didn't want to install an old version.

also - is there an automatic update feature to the agent, such that if a security hole is found updates will be rolled out automatically? or do i need to keep checking the website or forums to see if my machines are at risk?

The UD agent updates automatically. It's updated very rarely, though. United Devices no longer actively develop it - the only reason for an update would be a critical security issue or if WCG wanted to alter something within the WCG customisation part.

thanks for the info. this info should probably be somewhere prominent on the site, forums, or FAQ - it's a crucial security question that any admin using commercial (or home!) computers would need to know before trusting the agent.

i'm surprised it a Q that hasn't been more F A'ed!

It's about to be added to an Agent System Requirement Matrix table and is presently mentioned e.g. in Help:

No disrespect to you, bcodding* - but the number of things that various people think should be more prominently displayed on the site is absolutely amazing!

The short truth is, with 6 different projects and 2 different agents, the amount of vitally important information is overwhelming. We do our best to make it accessible (although there are definite weaknesses) but it can't all feature on the front page.

Basically, if information is included in the About Us, Research or Help sections of the site, then it already has maximum prominence.

* This is a rant that has been brewing for a while, and really has nothing to do with you or this thread. Just venting, sorry!
