All results classified "Error"

I have all (5) results at the Results Status page classified as an "Error". They are different results for different projects computed on my notebook with Windows XP. Anybody have an idea what could be wrong?

Here follows beginning of the Result Log for one of them:

<core_client_version>5.8.15</core_client_version>

********End init_lights********

Re: All results classified "Error"

Please try this checklist: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=98

This error is commonly graphics related, so you may be able to solve it by avoiding the screensaver and graphics window.

what does this mean?
how can it be resolved?

Thanks

Re: All results classified "Error"

They are all the same error. The stderr text is a log of the application progress, not an explanation of the specific error.

You can find an explanation (and workaround) for this error here: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=175

Am I correct in assuming you are using Vista?

Re: All results classified "Error"

It's odd that comp_interrlz wrote Windows XP in the OP, but it is the same error as point 5 covered in the Vista How To post in Start Here... error caused by shutting down too quick damaging the work unit.

The OP was by Jezura, and he had a different issue.

Re: All results classified "Error"

hey

"Am I correct in assuming you are using Vista?" - yes i am, thanks very much for the link biggrin

@Sekerob: sorry i didn't see the Vista How To topic, did a search for numerous keywords for my problem, but i didn't seem to get anywhere (hence the post)

Thanks all for the help wink

PS...maybe a nice upgrade for the next BOINC agent update given that this will possibly become more of an issue if vista takeup increases?

Re: All results classified "Error"

As I understand this issue, the problem is with Vista and not with the Boinc agent.
The rapid shut down issue is very similar to the problem Windows had when it was first given the ability to power off the machine and it did not give the hard drives a chance to flush their cache. This resulted in massive file corruption problems and a quick Windows patch to introduce a shutdown delay.
I expect a patch will be issued from MS to address this issue whenever they feel it has reached a high enough priority level.
