"cannot connect to core client" is a whole other issue. Haven't seen it in a while, actually.

The most common reason why people get this error is because the core client isn't running. Open Task Manager and look for boinc.exe in the Processes tab - is it running?

Other common causes are security software conflicts. What security software do you use? Just Zone Alarm?

OK, I repaired boinc, now I have a 'targeted' (disconnected boinc) and one that has picked up from last night.

Here are the messages I found

I have noteds that some of the messages have changed, from 'always' to 'based on preferences'.
