Hi all (again),
I would really like to see people here getting along :) If this thread will continue to grow with sarcasm and other off topic discussions (that aren't agreed by most of you) i will delete my thread as it's degenerating. It's good to have different opinions and try to correct others' mistakes but not if that becomes the main discussion of a thread. Thank you again for your replies and happy crunching! :) Take care! |

Hi razvandrt,
----------------------------------------Threads can only be deleted if the opening post was not replied to, BUT, as the thread owner, you have the option to hit the little red head, right hand bottom of your post, report your issue and request removal of bad language or the whole thread. Was done recently whole heartedly for 1 person for ALL his threads. The function used to be in the original software, but suppose someone does start out with a flame bait, gets folk worked up and than deletes? In that case, the FB poster gets reported and banned - including any sock puppets - from the fora, temporary or permanent. Most all know the term "being nelsoc'd". He's the man who will apply the bandaid. cheers

The reason i asked for some "results" is that i needed to make a presentation about grid computing and its use for a grid computing initiative my university has, and decided to ask on the forum for quick replies and straight answers about the WCG projects. Well, thank you all for your replies, thanks Didactylos for the links and if the discussion continues, i hope it will be a constructive one and not a paranoid one ;) Take care! Hi Razvandrt, I guess for your presentation, WCG is a bit young. You may try Folding at Home ( http://folding.stanford.edu/ ) Which has 49 published papers in 7 years. They use different algorithms, software and approach but basically it is the same old disty computing and it is about protein folding like WCG projects. I support both WCG & F@H with different computers, and can tell you that both has it's pros and cons. any way, Point is that, You need resources to draw your univ. to DC and here it is.. ![]() |

Hi Razvandrt,
----------------------------------------Sorry for the confusion – I wasn’t directing my post to you. Lawrence is right, I was responding to a different poster who said they wouldn’t donate their cpu cycles because they thought the WCG had something to do with the US military. I’m not sure how my post got attached to your thread – maybe I failed somewhere in the posting process. In any case, take care! ![]() |
