Actually, my sticky comment was for both the WCG forums and the one I am supposed to implement. I think the software I have been "blessed" with is ntforum, but I haven't looked up the details yet.

In retrospect, the ideal solution to a private team forum is for the team to host one on their team site, which means it will be entirely separate from WCG and thus can implement whatever the team wants. Alternately, there are a number of internet sites which will host a forum for you, for a minimal monthly charge, if a given team can't host one themselves.

almost forgot, bump.
Nice bumping into you.
If you want a WCG team with its own forum, with stickies, why not join this one http://strellex.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20 or one like it, if there is one. You would be welcome as a visitor, but would have to join if you want to post - with or without stickies

Re: Bump thread

Bump, then recruit in the team thread.

Don't recruit in the bump thread, then bump.

Re: Bump thread

Sorry; did I do it the wrong way round? Didn't think any particular order was required. Also, I was not recruiting for a team - if I had been, I would have done it in the teams board or in a sig. I was merely giving advice for all, especially jal2, which is why I quoted him.

Re: Bump thread

I fixated on these keywords...

If you want a WCG team with its own forum, with stickies, why not join this one

Re: Bump thread

I understand now. You think there is a danger peeps might not see the rest of the sentence. What I should have done was send jal2 a pm directing him here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=63F093XMXR1, or an eMail as we have no pm's.

Re: Bump thread

Not so much a danger as a restriction...

Unfortunately, this brand of forum has no PM. What we do here is jazz up our signatures...with a link to the team there and perhaps a logo or something. (Those can't be combined into a combination link...it takes both a link and an image) There's no rule against that. laughing

Then...all you have to do is tell jal2 to follow your sig unless he figures it out...or follows another one. biggrin The remote team recruiting rule is the same as the old one was at grid.org. Keep it in the team thread.

Re: Bump thread

This would have also required me to click the "join this team" button after visiting your team's home page. biggrin
But since I'm not finished BUMPing up the stats in my current team, and I haven't figured out how to just visit another team without totally leaving my current team, I'm going to stay where I'm at for now. cool

Re: Bump thread

The "join this team" button typically take you to the team home page. There's yet another button there to push if you REALLY want to join it. Check the one on your own team home page for location.

You can visit as many team home pages as you want without "self-induced penalty".

It is a mutating team button. I checked YOUR team. It says "join this team". If you go there as your own team, it says "quit this team".

If you really, really mess up and join some other "wrong" team, it is simple enough to reverse the procedure and join your own team again.

I have read your captains' note and visited your team home page, which I like. I have even tried the quiz. From having a home page to having a forum is (I hope) only a short step - perhaps you can have your sticky without leaving your present team? Failing that, it is possible to crunch under one name on one team, have your sticky under another name on the other and post on both.
