confused Dual processors?

I've found plenty of info about dual-core procs, but very little about a dual processors.

I recall using dual processors on my Opteron 240, with the UD Agent, but I don't recall how I did it.

Heat and power are not an issue.

Thanks

Re: Dual processors?

BOINC is what you want.

BOINC supports multiprocessing. It treats dual cores just like dual CPUs.

Instructions here: http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm

Re: Dual processors?

I'm not sure I want to use BOINC, I'm very familiar with UD, and I have lots of memory and HD space, so I have a good score per WU.

But BOINC is more processor dependent for points? If so, I might use that for my other computer, which has a computer score of 145, and a processor score of 181...

Re: Dual processors?

There is a good chance you will get more points with BOINC, if your computer is high spec. You can certainly do more work than with UD.

UD isn't supported in a multiprocessor configuration. BOINC is designed to do it.

BOINC's just plain better.... give it a try.

Re: Dual processors?

it's called a UD Tweaker in which you can do the 2 jobs with 2 CPUs...

but please, try only that option...others will compromize the work you are doing!

Re: Dual processors?

UD Tweaker can cause hidden errors in work units. The UD client is programmed to only run 1 thread per OS, so you have to use virtual machine software to run multiple work units on one computer. Yes, UD is easier to install than BOINC. The instructions for moving from UD to BOINC are at http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm

Re: Dual processors?

In the migration described above, what happens to the abandoned WU?
