Grid Server Problem?

One of my grid agents is unable to connect with the grid server this morning (getting the Agent Paused message whenever it tries to contact the server). I don't see any announcements about the server perhaps going off-line today although I notice I can't log in to My Grid at the moment, presumably because of maintenance of some kind.

I'll keep an eye on it during the day and report later if there still seems to be a problem. I hate it when a perfectly capable PC is sitting here waiting for something useful to do. I know, I know... Sekerob will say switch to BOINC!

David.

Re: Grid Server Problem?

Hi David,

Most probably it's the Sunday backup/maintenance you walked into.

Actually, it's even to me, it's just that BOINC works where WCG agent often finds an obscure and unfathomable random obstruction. I run HCMD on 2 cores on UD only to know what's on with the beast's problems, but foremost giving MD research my support.

Re: Grid Server Problem?

might be that, or the connection of the server is overbooked...

I had similar problems, but leaving the computer alone, did download the unit 5min later! (ADSL user)

WCG and BOINC run on different servers. Clients will automatically retry with increasing intervals to prevent that all try simultaneous and overload the system. Watch it and seconds will feel like minutes.

Many were able to continue WCG agent, when Boulder, Co. was down due 'atmospheric' events taking BOINC out for days. That's why uninstalling the WCG agent has not the vote of "old hands".... they were still crunch thru the alternate, albeit ageing pathway.

I'm pleased to say it's just popped back to life for me.
