Project status is updated. 54 % of the whole project is crunched. It didn't say how much of phase 2 that was finished.

It looks like phase 2 is finished. http://www.dbbm.fiocruz.br/labwim/bioinfoteam...eComparison/progress.html
"For the second phase of the project, the initial dataset was updated with newly published predicted protein sequences mostly from genomic data, adding 393,999 new sequences. Additionally, a fully curated reference dataset was added (SwissProt – with 254,609 protein sequences), contributing to controlled annotation and data cross-referencing. This part of the Genome Comparison finished on May 14th, 2007." The rest of the project (sofare?) is estimated to last for about four month. |

Project scientists get to define phases any way they want to.
Originally they listed all the added databases and called them Phase 2. But now the progress page is calling the last database (expected to last 4 months) the 'final phase'. I think we would be safer calling it Phase 3, in case more databases are discovered in the future. |

Like Lawrence said in one of his posts, making the tools to make the tools, it's similar here that databases and gene annotations are continuously collected and than used for generation of new databases using different comparative (that's what we do now), and standardized annotative methods. Similarly SIMAP is taking database updates from other data collectors on a monthly bases and processes them with different software.... one day when all the data from SIMAP, HPF, GC and the like will be thrown in one big relational database and new computational technique will be developed to do other refined simulations and analysis. What it boils down to is, the possibility of more data being pulled in for GC is there, long as WCG and volunteers continue to be willing to help get it all calculated out.
----------------------------------------Now on GC progress, have updated my graph with the latest and assuming May 23's 54% equals 6.55 million work units (in quorum 3), the overall total is now about 12.14 million. At a present rolling average pace of 60,737 work units daily, we should be done in 87-90 days or August 23-26. The daily graph updates linked below, recomputes the average from the last 7 days. This you could consider the present optimistic date on present body of work, with Fiocruz saying 4 more months i.e. end of September, beginning October.... To think that the last update the CA's had from WCG was finishing the project in July. Given that Help XXXXXXX Cancer planned for June/July kick-off will draw some juice and HCMD keeps drawing out too, and the long European holiday in retsof's calendar is before us, October finish is very probable on GC. All dates being very much an Indication, let's crunch on. ![]() edit: corrected spelling

I was alittle sad I didn't get one WU from the last cancer project.. 2 days after I joined it ended.. I got my systems load balanced for output.. the projects with smaller simple workunits go on slower systems while the bigger tougher jobs for the newer rigs.. looking at all the forums looks like a few more projects will have their target dates hit close together. hope more work is on the way.. I am looking to add 9.8 Ghz more CPU power to the cause soon. right now I am doing 4.6 Ghz = to about 15 - 20 results a day on my current systems configuration.. |

based on WCG reported WU's at June 11 lunch time 66% and sliding average production in last 7 days, July 23 is give or take the completion date for the grand total, but the WU's are fast-er this last week.

Filipe, have posted the graphs I do so often on the fora, I'm starting to be embarrassed to post it again..... here you can track WU average run time per project: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=13733
----------------------------------------If I get GC's, not many, they presently go thru at an hour or less, but the average barely moves as you can see. ttyl
