After viewing posts on the performance of hyperthreading processors only using half of their capacity I am wondering...
Should i disable hyperthreading in the system BIOS to maximize my processor usage? Overheating has not been a problem so far, but I have been unable to drive my processor to 100% other than brief spikes when opening or closing applications. Sorry to sound so dens but my knowlege lies in Microsoft Networking and i have very little experience with processor configuration ( although I can change BIOS configurations ) and dont want to mess up my scores. Currently the engine will not make use of any additional processors or hyperthreading. Dissabling hyperthreading may increase your scores by a wee amount if you do not use your computer. However if you do use your computer, leave it enabled allowing any additional tasks to run in the other processor thread.
Regardless fo what you decide to do, I don't believe it will mess your scores. Steve |

Turning it off won't help enough to be significant, and it will impact other areas of computing, unless you have systems dedicated solely to crunching WCG units, and all other programs and unneeded processes (like anti-virus... who needs that?) have been killed. |
