The source of the problem is reported in this thread and effective lasted beyond the normal UD database and website backup of Sunday from 08:00 UTC to 09:00 UTC to actually about 15:40 UTC.
----------------------------------------During the problem: 1. Not logged in allowed reading the fora 2. Being logged in gave 1 of 2 error messages 3. The Contact_US on front page was dis-functional Only customer support function working was sending mail to support@worldcommunitygrid.org. The CA's (Community Advisors) have direct email and phone contacts, but we usually don't need to use those as the monitoring system would alert the person(s) being on weekend standby. As stated, there was no upload/download interruption (other than the regular scheduled Sunday maintenance for BOINC). Some experienced several hours of inability to upload/download UD agent work. BOINC does not incur that because it has an in-build buffering system with a default of 7.2 hours (0.3 days). Many users prefer to increase that buffer to 1-2 days so that long service or ISP interruption allows to continue processing. With the present 9 days return time requirement its fine. Setting the control over 3 days works contrary as BOINC will increase safety margins actually resulting in less work under version 5.8. Explanations for that are elsewhere on these fora. BOINC is multi-core thus on a dual core setting 2 days work, it effectively pulls the equivalent of work for a single core system covering 4 days. All is well again on the customer side.
