I just started recently and have been running UD only. I have just downloaded and installed BOINC.
----------------------------------------Now I have both running at the same time working on three job units, is this OK, or should I only have one or the other running at the same time? For example will running both affect job results, also if I am not running UD I cannot work on Muscular Dystrophy projects? Thank you in advance for any input. Yes and No.
----------------------------------------1. Running HPF2 and HCMD on the UD agent simultaneous with BOINC will slow the UD agent down to near stand still. On a dual core you could tell BOINC to only use 1 core and use 'affinity' to assign the program to core-0 or core-1. Not recommended for the uninitiated. 2. The machine, because of the 2 agents not being aware of each others needs, will have a combined very hi memory usage. There are a few more pro's and cons. It's essentially dependent on the Hardware specs if running it that way leaves the PC in a 'usable' state and allows for the science to progress and not result in e.g. disk trashing. cheers

It does work, but it's not really advised. There's no point. Running both will just use up extra memory, and you could even end up slowing down your crunching.
Wait for UD to finish its current work unit, then close it down forever. If you really want to keep using UD for the HCMD project, then perhaps limit BOINC to just one CPU. |

Thank you for your reply as I an uninitiated with BOINC I think I will go with Didactylos, suggestion and wait for UD to finish its current job and then close it.
