.... but anyway...the P4 HT, they work only at 50% with UD agent...even though the throttle is set on 75% or 60%... strange.... my P4HT does 100% when i tell it to run 100%.... the Taskmanager gives miss-information.... 100% of 1 virtual core appears as 50%. If it says 100% in the Graphics screen at bottom, it is. i'll check later... but about that BOINC...really nice MP, it lasted for 2minutes! here is why: yesterday I install the BOINC, stop the UD...BOINC gets started, and it doesn't give me to write teh pass under 6letters, even though it has been...so i change the pass...it downloads the job & starts... soon, it donwloads another one and start that job also! so that MP isn't MP - it's only doing dual jobs with dual cores, something that i can do with UDTWEAKER which is ilegal (so don't use it)! i say OK, so i upload the task manager, to check some things...and i see 700MB on SWAP file...that has does it, and the BOINC was history!! i don't want to slow down my machine with memory consumption...NO WAY!! |

KLiK, i suspect you are running 2 FA@H jobs side by side on a P4HT for any HT processor. You can set e.g. <MAX_CPU 1 MAC_CPU> in the override control file. There is very little gain 2 jobs in this type of hardware. FA@H jobs use a peak around 250mb ram each and 350mb of swap file. Swap file (virtual memory) is on your hard disk, which for 99.99% of the folk is no problem at all. This is still small for the Help Defeat Cancer would use at times 1gb of RAM each and 1.4-1.5gb overall. It thus usually only went to the hi specification client, yet the scientists could not generate work units quick enough. What went into the distribution system daily, around 20,000 came back in same volumes the same day. We really like to help you to keep it small, so maybe switch to Genome Comparison. Takes 7mb Ram and 8-10mb of Virtual Memory (Swap File). The Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy is of same small size, but runs for phase 1 only on the old WCG(UD) agent. cheers

actually I got all the projects selected, including the BOINC projects if there isn't any awailable...so the WCG grid is giving me the ones for my computer specs!
----------------------------------------most of the machines is about 512MB of RAM, 'cause that is just enough for working in the WinXP without any problems and HDD noise/swaping...so on any of the machines I never see the HDC project! |

The HDC project is complete, anyway.
