Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Some funny idea of mine to reject the flashing lights in the windows
Help stop the Greenhouse warming ect ect
Over the year I collected and dried plants
alliums fir cones poppy heads
they were sprayed with Glitter stuff
( 'spect I have done as much damage to the ozone layer as the electrickery)
going back to when I was a kid Christmas decorations were holly from the hedgerow Paperchains hand made
The christmas tree was bought and each year went back into the garden
About ten years ago I went back to the old family house and our Christmas tree was still at the bottom of the garden
Nearly 30ft tall
when I told the current house owners they were thrilled
I was a little bit pleased as well biggrin

I go one step further in my attempt to fend off Global Warming... Leave the tree in the woods where growing... I don't even have to own an axe...
To recap: 1. No Xmas Tree, 2. No lights needed, 3. no electricity consumed, 4. no money wasted unnecessarily, 5. I saved a tree... Gee I'm good... Now where's those whales?

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Evening all

Well, I do have a tree, a purchased one I'm afraid, but it will be recycled in January.
It's still outside at the moment so (hopefully) not drying up. In this area I'm a traditionalist. The tree comes in on Christmas eve and is decorated ready for the candles to be lit on Christmas day.
There it remains until twelfth night after which it goes outside again for the council to collect with its gardening recycling outfit.
Now, some visits over the weekend and then peace and relaxation.

the poor ole tree struggles through its life (very shortthat it was)
you put it into a hot household enviroment make a mockery of it by girding it with ge gaws trinkets and such like .
then you cast it out for the Bin men to take to the big council shrreader
not only that I just read the fact you are eating some gravelad ----lax .........

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Morning all. smile

Since yesterday evening we have a thin layer of snow over here.
Yesterday was also freezing cold with nine degrees below zero.
I don't think the snow will last very long though but we will see.
