Re: The Edwardians wear drape jackets

Thanks Merle, Looks like we crossed in th e Post...
As you might see I have the Book but cant see any ref to the limp/kick???

Teh Interweb is a marvelous piece of kit when you Google it cool

John Thaw

John Thaw had a noticeable peculiarity of gait, his right leg showing evidence of 'dorsiflexor paralysis' or ‘foot drop’, for which there have been several different explanations. Some even speculated that he had a wooden leg below the knee, or that he had contracted Poliomyelitis as a child. Several sources state that it resulted from an accident at the age of 15 when he tripped over a kerb and broke his foot whilst rushing to catch a bus to school. However, in her biography The Two of Us: My Life with John Thaw, Sheila Hancock says that John's grandfather had a withered leg and walked with a limp; John apparently copied him and also walked with a limp all his life and the later accident further exaggerated this.

Ah, Inspector Morse.
Finally, after hundreds of pages of Brit-centric and undecipherable comments, I can finally recognize something.

We got (past tense) Morse and Lewis regularly over here and I particularly enjoyed the series. Thaw did a great job with that character. Here is a snipet from the Wikipedia website on his leg problem. How true it is, I cannot say.

Re: The Edwardians wear drape jackets

Many thanks for the Info Much as I thought if the Polio bit is correct
and as I said Poliomyelitis was everywhere in the 50's I had a cousin with a similar limp but he has grown out of it.
