How many members do they have? It would be interesting to see how much our membership goes up over the next few weeks and compare it to how many members they had.

Re: grid.org are pulling the plug.

It's hard to tell, since many both here and there are no longer active.

The grid forum is down to one public thread already. Strange. I suppose it's easier to moderate, but tough to find anything specific. HEY, I guess there's no longer any reason for anything specific. It's a goodbye session.

There was only 2 days notice, and one is already gone.

108x365+127= 39182 units if full time. This is a very consevitive figure, but the base that will drive up the stats here up will be from that group.`

Re: grid.org are pulling the plug.

Hi all,

Another homeless person from UD here looking for a new home!

Could I ask a question, which I haven't seen an answer to:

I crunched UD on my PC at home. I also used to crunch a lot on my PC at work, by copying files with a usb pen drive to and from the work PC, with the home PC being used to send and receive work units.

The only slight snag was that I wouldn't do an install of the software at work (i.e. update the registry), but this wasn't a problem.

Can I do the same thing here? Does it make a difference whether I use BOINC or other agent? does it matter which project I run? (I would prefer to fight cancer).

Any advice welcome.

thanks.

Re: grid.org are pulling the plug.

Welcome / Willkommen / Ben Venuti / Bien Venu,

look for posts with 'Sneakernet'. With BOINC it's quite involved but doable. It works for all projects, if you get it to work. Criticality is same PC type and same operating system!

We do not advocate installing on work PC's unless you have permission from Owners / IT managers! For that matter do not install without consent unless the machines are yours.

cheers
