Making use of BAM and or local override files? I'm almost positive he is not using anything like that. He showed me his profile and when he selects Custom Profile and changes something and hits apply, it always goes back to Maximum Output. Very strange. |

Well, posting / pasting the profile before saving might give us a clue..... maybe HCMD selected in the projects (Only for UD agents)?
----------------------------------------If though a profile is attached to Linux with only work that is not available to Linux, no jobs would be send unless the 'Alternate work' option was selected. Suggest in that respect to e.g. create / make use of one of the other standard named profiles like 'School', if it is the choice to process different projects on Linux boxes.

I think we'll get the techs to take a look at your profile on the server. Corrupt profiles (though rare) are possible, especially if you save your profile using a different project or (as I think happened in this case) using an exceedingly unstable alpha client.
Sorry, but the current alpha releases barely run at all. Sometimes they don't run at all - just yesterday I reported a bug that stops BOINC even starting. Early alpha releases are a time for the developers to try out new features, and there's no telling what may make it into the final release. Anyway, I'll ping the techs for you. I'm sure they can reset your profile for you. |

snip...Anyway, I'll ping the techs for you. 10. Ping I'm anxious to get this one out of the way right off the bat because it's the only one on this list I will admit to having used in actual speech. After hearing many of you complain about cohorts who use it to refer not only to e-mail but phone calls, I am now thoroughly chastened and ashamed. I pledge to use it only to refer to a certain TCP/IP-related function and a rather pricey brand of golf club going forward. http://redmondmag.com/columns/article.asp?EditorialsID=931 |

Gollumer,
You have 7 devices that have contacted the server within the past 7 days. Of these, 5 have download new work to work on in the past 24 hours. Of the two that do not have any work in progress, one has not contacted our servers in 36 hours (that one is windows and is using your home profile). The other is Linux and contacted our servers last night to return a result (also using your home profile). Can you try checking the box 'send work for other projects if none is available for the projects I have selected' on your home profile? thanks, Kevin |

I can't get work from the projects I want (HPF), the only way I get work is to check the "if no work is available..." box.
My computers get work from projects I don't want to work on, won't/refuse to get work from the projects I do, and my profile won't save settings properly. I shut down the Windows box, so yeah, it's not even trying anymore. Ideas? |

FWIW..... HCMD runs in phase 1 exclusively on the old WCG(UD) agent. Selecting that in a BOINC profile will fail the save for sure, though it 'appears' to save it.

Gollumer,
HPF2 is only available on Windows at this time. Later today we will be launching a new round of beta testing for it for Mac-Intel and Linux. Your settings are being saved properly - however the 'maximize output' combo box will be selected if the following conditions are true: % of processor time = 100% % of total memory = 100% Do work while computer is in use? = Yes Do work only after computer is idle for: 0.5 minutes The combo box for 'minimum impact' is set if: % of processor time = 60% % of total memory = 75% Do work while computer is in use? = No Do work only after computer is idle for: 3 minutes If you change other settings but leave the above in place then the combo box will still show as selected for the appropriate setting. If you changed any of the above settings then it will show as customized. We will look at changing this to make it more clear to the users. I found one possible bug and it might be causing your project preferences for your 'default' preferences to be applied to your 'home' preferences. I just now manually corrected this on your profile. The official fix will be updated in our build next week. Can you try these two machines again? thanks, |
