Hello,
can anybody please explain why I got only the half of the points granted than the other 2 for that workunit ? I have a second workunit with this interesing points granting. In this case I'm the first one in the list. (I hope that the cut and paste information is readable in the forum. faah1488_ d094n682_ x2AZ8_ 01_ 0-- Valid 04/15/2007 10:37:19 04/18/2007 05:36:45 10.35 139.8 / 32.5 faah1488_ d094n682_ x2AZ8_ 01_ 2-- Valid 04/15/2007 10:37:18 04/17/2007 23:06:40 12.02 67.3 / 65.0 faah1488_ d094n682_ x2AZ8_ 01_ 1-- Valid 04/15/2007 10:33:52 04/17/2007 01:24:38 8.73 62.7 / 65.0 Many Thanks Siegfried |

Tell me your CPU make/ghz, OS, BOINC version and we have a more exact clue, but for now, your claim is considered an 'Extreme' Outlier which only gets 50% of the credit of the remaining mean of 'valid' claims in the quorum.
----------------------------------------For comparison, my P4 2.53HT claims around 80 for a 10.5 hour job. My C2D claims also around 80, but does same job in probably 7 hours.

The rule of Outlier, which can be both for Over- and Under-claimers, is described in the member news announcement of November 6, 2006

WCG Device Name: CL3AR619
CPU: Intel Dual Core T7600 @ 2.33 Ghz -> running 2 Workpackages OS: Windows XP Prof Boinc version: 5.8.15 OK the explanation could be correct, because the result seams not to be in line with the others. Thanks in advance. Siegfried |

*ahem*
It is correct. It is the only reason that credit is reduced. I hope you can figure out why your machine is overclaiming. If you need any help, we're always here. Where did you get your version of BOINC from? I experienced this problem once when I had my L2 cache disabled. |

Hello Thanks for the explanation, I have not found resently this problem again on this machine, if it comes back I know where to look at.
----------------------------------------I got my BOINC from the WCG website. Many greetings Siegfried [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 19, 2007 11:38:14 AM] |

Yes it can happen - I saw this recently - see the thread "Variation in Benchmark Score". It is caused by the periodic benchmark that BOINC runs going awry. I saw a doubling of my typical claimed score, and found that the benchmark results from the last autobenchmark were about double what they usually are. (Do you by any chance have a dual proc system?)
----------------------------------------I have ALWAYS used the official BOINC release - and I dont mess with it. I saw my claimed scores going high, - I put this right very quickly by using a manual benchmark run - but I saw one of my WUs was awarded half the quorum score. Personally I am not too interested in points from a compettitive point of view, I use them to tell me that all is well or that recent upgrades have had an effect. If I was more concerned with points, I am sure I would be upset to be penalised for something that was not my fault. |

Thanks for the hint with the manual benchmarking. It seems that I have problems when moving my machine from work to home in standby mode. I will now run the manual benchmark after each move.
I have a dual core and it seems that after the move and comming back from Stand By the Workunits are running slower. I'll try to use the manual benschmark now. Is there a possibility to run the Benchmark automatically after coming back from standby ? I have loaded the official WGC BOINC 5.8.15 from the WGC website and it has the offical logo of WGC. This is cool. Thanks for you help. Siegfried |

The benchmark holds for 5 days or an upgrade or downgrade of the BOINC version. Thus moving location should not effect the values.
----------------------------------------Suspending BOINC and resuming would not do that, but there is command line code that can force it on start up.... --run_cpu_benchmarks Run CPU benchmarks. Do this if you have modified your computer's hardware. code would be working in a windows shortcut like D:\BOINC\boincmgr.exe "/b, --run_cpu_benchmarks" never tried it. As said, the benchmark holds 5 days (exactly 120 hours), thus it would only be required to run manually if the values are showing all wrong in the message log..... note in the calendar when to check! Make sure to activate the 'Leave in Memory' option else the jobs would restart at last checkpoint every time you run it!
