Hello. I've installed the agent on my laptop and it works just fine. However, I've installed it on my workstation and I get the following message upon agent startup:

-----
Error loading Grid Agent

Error Number: 453

MSG: Can't find DLL entry point udcpi_set_run_directory un UDwin_3801_2843.DLL
-----

Any ideas pls?

Since the missing filename and directory begin with "ud" (United Devices developed the agent application run on WCGrid), I suspect that the install did not run correctly on your workstation. I would recommend removing it and then reinstalling the WCG software from the web site.

Re: Runtime problems

Hello. I tried uninstalling, re-downloading and reinstalling the agent. The download was ok (md5 checks), however, I get the same error at agent start.
I found something about this error message here. could this be because I had Visual Studio 6 and then uninstalled it? Or should I install .NET framework?

I am afraid that was the only thought that came to my mind. I hope that someone else will jump in here with a suggestion. It might help them if you would indicate which version of Windows you are running. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

cool Re: Runtime problems

thesaf, Dave is obviously right that something is not installing correctly. The next thing is to suspect a security program of some sort. For instance, is this an Athlon64 machine with DEP enabled? Do you have McAfee VirusScan ver. 8.0? Let's try looking at something in your Internet security designed to keep a virus from installing that could interfere with the installation process.

Re: Runtime problems

I found the problem, after reinstalling Windows. It lies in my AV, which is KAV Personal Pro 4.5.0.94

hey thesaf

I just want to say that it's really good that you are helping with this project too, but just for your own sake, I wanna tell u this:

I have heard from some of my friends that it is not good for a laptops Cpu, to run 100% all the time. It will burn down fast. I dont know if this is true, but I am convinced it is, since my own laptops Cpu burned down after having a program like this, where it also was having the Cpu working 100% all the time. I dont know if that was the case, since it was a 4 year old laptop, but thats all I can really say. You dont have to listen to me, I am just trying to help

Regards Madix

Glad you figured it out and brought another cruncher online for the effort.

Re: Runtime problems

Madix, you don't have anything to worry about. A CPU doesen't burn because of computing. The cause is either bad cooling or bad voltage. Nevertheless, my laptop is somewhat an internal server for the company, with an uptime of about 3 weeks, so crunching numbers is all that it does. It seems to me that working during the night as well as during the day will only keep it in good shape :)
