When I go into my Result Status section in My Grid for the few listed completed work units it says the Status as Error. Just wondering what might cause this, I am using BOINC by the way.

The Messages Tab in BOINC Manager should have some error messages. Which projects give an error?
You might want to run some diagnostic programs listed in the Useful Utilities thread at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490 I am assuming that when you click on the work unit name in the Results Status page, the quorum shows that other computers run these work units without any problems. Are you overclocking? Lawrence |

Well I didn't come across any errors in BOINC but I hadn't noticed until just now that I was not getting credit and looked into it a bit.
It only seems to have errors with the WorldCommunityGrid and runs perfectly with my other projects as far as I am aware. Some of the work units have been completed successfully by other computers but both of my computers in my house seem to be having this problem. Not overclocking. |

Which project causes errors (FAAH, HPF2, GC, HDC) ?
----------------------------------------Can you cut and paste the error section in the Messages tab? What OS are you running? Added: Both computers - what antivirus program are you running? Sometimes they cause problems. Lawrence [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 27, 2007 7:41:54 AM] |

Which project causes errors (FAAH, HPF2, GC, HDC) ?
I have all the projects selected so I am not sure exactly which project is being calculated but if I remember correctly it was HPF2 that I have seen running. Thus far both my computers have completed 4 work units for WCG and each have came back with an error. Can you cut and paste the error section in the Messages tab? BOINC is not reporting any errors as far as I can see in the messages tab. It completes the work units and sends them in and then they show up as an Error on the Results Status page. I have thus far had no problems with the other projects I am running such as SETI@home. What OS are you running? I am running Windows Vista on one computer and XP on the other, I suppose Vista is a potential problem but it seems strange that each computer is returning an error. Antivirus The one computer has no antivirus and my main computer is running Kaspersky. |

BOINC version: 5.8.15
And I am not quite sure what you mean by Throttle, if you could please elaborate I will gladly figure out the answer for you. I just don't want many more of my clock cycles to go to waste! lol |

Hi Vrooman,
Apparently you are returning HPF2 work unit results that do not satisfy the validation function. Each HPF2 work unit should belong to a quorum of about 18 results. Validation begins once 11 results have been returned. The results Status page does not list the project that a work unit is part of, but each project uses a different naming convention for the work units. HPF2 names begin with strings like la757, GC names begin like 10000733-10001449, HDC names begin like B26236, and FAAH names begin like faah1432. Lawrence |

In the Device profile the aka is 'CPU Resource' or 'Use no more than: 100 % of processor time' which at WCG for BOINC is default 100%. The feature is known to cause problem with HDC and FAAH... not sure if also with HPF2 if set below 100%. There is a new beta going for FAAH to handle the bug.....until then set to 100%......zero waste

I should have thought of that!
That probably is the problem. Set CPU usage to 100% and see what happens. |
