On two of my machines the currently running WUs got suspended automatically and another WU has started.

What does this mean? ![]() Every helpful idea is appreciated . . . 'Guess' you have had the 'waiting for memory' showing for those jobs in the tasks tab? Had it a few days ago because a beta of BOINCview started hogging all the ram. BOINC from 5.8 will then suspend the large job and switch to the next until it bumps again into the wall. It's the HDC jobs that have done it to me during daytime/busy when i allow 60% use (of 1.5gb). WCG default is 100% but if at an other DC the percent was loaded for a profile like default 50% or an entry was added to the override file/local machine specific prefs......

I you had a 'waiting to run' it's the new notice for 'preempted'.
----------------------------------------Here a link to the new BOINC FAQ: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?langu...70663589f656fc4a7d021f737 The 'waiting for memory' is also described in the new FAQ http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?langu...1920243e3a1a096141eb5cd2b

So the WUs had preempted, okay.
----------------------------------------I just got the same behaviour on a third machine with a Genome Comparison unit (whereas the first two had HPF units running). What could be the reason? I have running 5.8.15 for a lot of days now and today there are these problems on some machines (other machines updated normally). ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

Check the Report deadline in BOINC Manager. It might be 1.5 days instead of the normal 9 days. All tasks I have received since this morning are 1.5 days deadline, causing them to take priority over the 9 day deadline tasks. I have noticed that the initial replication is set to 4 on these 1.5 day tasks.
----------------------------------------I had a beta FAAH on linux last night with a 1.5 day deadline with quorum of 4, but now even normal tasks have these settings. [Edit 1 times, last edit by BobCat13 at Mar 27, 2007 6:13:14 PM] |

@BobCat13
----------------------------------------Thanks for your contribution! But report deadline for each of the 3 suspended WUs is 03/04/2007. ![]() ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

You are correct that if you receive 1.5 day due rush jobs they will put the 9 day jobs into 'waiting to run'
----------------------------------------Had a steady trickle of work today.... 12 in queue and for each done a new one back filled. Except for rush jobs on GC, all have 9 days. Mix is GC/FAAH/HPF2. The HDC has now dried up completely (but for the mop up work finished).

Thanks to all for your fast and competent help!! ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |
