I have just installed WCG Agent on my Windows XP and it seems to be working fine. Now I want to change its device name. How can I do it? I could not find this question in FAQ.

Click on My Grid - Device Manager then click on the Device Name to bring up the page for changing several settings, including the UD device name.

lawrencehardin, thank you for your reply.
I signed in WCG website and saw the Device Manager screen, and nothing is listed there. Device List is just blank. One thing I think funny is that when I ran the agent for the first time, I was required to sign in with a pop-up panel, and by mistake I entered different string from my user name that I registered on the website, and sign in succeeded and agent started. Is this something do with the problem? Or just I have to wait for a while for the Device List updated? |

If you bring up the UD client interface (by double-clicking on the WCG icon) you can see what your member name is. You may have 2 different member names. I am uncertain, but I believe that your device should show up in Device Manager as soon as you register. Clicking on the client interface should take you to the website for that member name.

Thank you, I think I could grasp the situation.
I visited the WCG website for the first time today, and downloaded the Agent. During the download process, I was required to register user name and password and I registered "jorakuh", The Agent was downloaded and installed successfully. Then I ran the Agent, and then Agent itself required me a registration again, and I thought the pop-up was "sign in" pop-up, not the registration. But I mistaken and entered the different user name, and as a result the Agent is now running under the second user name that is different from the first one that I registered on the website. So I could not see any Devices on the website that I signed in using the first user name. I feel that this agent's spec that requires registration -- not sign in -- when it runs first time is not sophisticated ... It is just confusing. |

Theoretically it can be both. Member registration than Device Registration or just Device registration.... that's why the question pops up something like a box to tick 'Existing Member?'.
----------------------------------------Of course if u choose to enter a different name during the device registration process you will in fact create a second member? If u dont tick the box, the registration will bounce you back if entering 'jorakuh' and tell that the name already exists..... a little head scratching follows If you are 'attached' to your original name go forward as follows: 1: Go to My Grid, My Profile and rename the wanted name to something like 'jorakuhthe2nd' 2: Sign out and log in with the second name, my grid, my profile and rename to 'jorakuh' The Device will come with it to the old-new name.
