I noticed that if I look at my team's listing for who is joined, there are more on the WCG's site than from sites like BOINCStats. I am also wondering if people who use the WCG client will have their credit counted towards the team showing on the BOINCStats like sites.

The very short answer is: No.
----------------------------------------The WCG agent points existed long before BOINC.....latter only recognizes credits generated with BOINC.

SO, just to confirm:
-members who only use the WCG app will not be listed on any BOINC websites -members who use both will only have credit that was generated using the BOINC client will show up on the BOINC websites -members who use both, credit granted with either client will show up on the WCG side. (I see later that BOINC credit is multiplied 7x to reach up to the level of the WCG) Question then. Why cant stat info generated using the WCG client show up on the BOINC statistics? Wouldn’t it be simple enough to just divide WCG granted work by 7 and then add it to the BOINC side? |

That is not the philosophy of BOINC global stats roll up. Arbitrary also as it would potentially distort individual and team stats there considerable, particular if those crunching for a long time on UD agent started to insert.
----------------------------------------Anyway, it's not WCG's case to do this, it's for those who maintain the BOINC stats if they would agree in the first place and than major coding on WCG side to merge WCG(UD) points which are earned on Wall-clock time to be converted to CPU time / Cobblestones. The x7 has a history as it was a number decided on when only Linux (lower benchmarks) and MAC did BOINC. When WCG started running BOINC also on Windows (higher questionable 'optimized' benchmark), that factor did not get revised..... it would be a mix of apples and pears conversion. That the Linux benchmark got tweaked now to match the Windows world is a bit topsy turfy..... but as it is, Windows rules the DC world, so that is the reference point. way to many words and not sure if i represent it all completely and correctly, but this is how i got it puzzled together... there could be a green patch in the blue sky ![]()

Ok, well, Thx for the quick posting and the information. This answers some of the questions my team members and I had about the discrepancy. We were under the impression that is our member used the WCG client that the credit would shop up on our team. Now it appears to only be partly true.
Just a note, a while back the climatprediction.net project did convert their credit system over to the BOINC, so it can be done, if so desired. They probably had more vested interests, given that they worked with Berkley in the initial fazes to get some sort of cross project system working between climate and SETI. |

Now that BOINC is the preferred (and default) client for WCG, are there any plans to convert the credits that were created on the UD agent to the BOINC client, or will the stats remain as they are even after you no longer use the UD agent?

Hello [SETI.USA]Tank_Master,
There is no way to fairly convert UD points into BOINC points. Any attempt to do so merits people's justice (in my jaundiced opinion). We are showing UD points on our website, considering 1 BOINC point as 7 UD points. Once we are all on BOINC, I expect that we will show BOINC points, with old UD points divided by 7 added in to the WCG member totals. In any event, I do not expect that UD points will ever be exported to other BOINC sites. UD points are simply incompatible with BOINC points. Just my opinion, Lawrence |

In that case, a suggestion: (this is the way SETI handled old credit on the "classic" client before they created the BOINC platform)
Have on the site in the person's profile the # of hours (or credit) they generated using the UD agent and also have the current amount of credit generated using the BOINC client. It looks like this: SETI@home member since 1 Jan 2001 Total credit 502,108.13 Recent average credit 0.08 SETI@home classic workunits 544 SETI@home classic CPU time 4,835 hours Also, are there any plans to convert some of the pages to look more like other BOINC projects? Will the backend servers change to use the native BOINC backend? |

According to what i see in BOINC, WCG uses server version 5.09 (The servers for BOINC and UD are separate, the statistics and management is what is merged). Whether WCG is going to be more 'BOINC' like, i think we just need to sit back and see. The complete phase out is almost a year away.
----------------------------------------Added: Where on a BOINC project can i see the total results, points and CPU time accumulated "per device"? I find a place where credits are provided and current results completed, but not historical cumulatives.

I find a place where credits are provided and current results completed, but not historical cumulatives. It iss in the xml exports, and also on the user's page if they do not have their comps hidden. For example on mine: http://abcathome.com/hosts_user.php?userid=175 Also, sites like BOINCStats can show the history for hosts and also for the user. |
