Added: Where on a BOINC project can i see the total results, points and CPU time accumulated "per device"? I find a place where credits are provided and current results completed, but not historical cumulatives. It iss in the xml exports, and also on the user's page if they do not have their comps hidden. For example on mine: http://abcathome.com/hosts_user.php?userid=175 Also, sites like BOINCStats can show the history for hosts and also for the user.

I find a place where credits are provided and current results completed, but not historical cumulatives. Neither #results nor cpu-time is saved anythere in database, except as part of wu/result-table. But, this table is routinely purged to keep database small and manageable. "Credit" is tracked by host, user and team. But, in BOINC-projects hosts can be merged or even deleted if no results listed any longer, so in practice you're only guaranteed that user and team-credits is saved. With v5.10.xx, the client saves job_log_project-url.txt, so you'll have overview of cpu-times atleast, and names of jobs you've done. Thatever credit you've gotten on the other hand is not saved in this log. The client AFAIK supports sending this log-file to server, so it can look like there's some plans to display this info on web-site or something... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Ok, one last question (for now) ;)
Will there be native 64bit apps released to the BOINC platforms? Some of us do have a 64bit OS and now BOINC is available for these OSs with a 64bit client here Note that a 64bit client for MAC will be available after OS 10.5 is released. Just want to pass on that we are pleased with how quick we get responses and on how stable this project is with supplying work and server availability. |

@ingleside,
----------------------------------------that's exactly the problem discussed on a German project where some were seeking evidence for external purposes (purpose to be discussed in other existing thread),. @Tank_Master, We have 3 running projects and by end of year, early next year 5 or 6 on 5 platforms i.e. 25-30+ science versions to maintain. I think once the Vista/Me II bug hits enough clients at WCG will there be sufficient demand for starting to offer 64bit. Maybe one of the techs can offer guidance, but for now 32bit send to 64bit clients on the various OSses is the offering. There also remains the ever returning performance differential which thru CPU ability limitations is rather disappointing 15% from readings in other threads and elsewhere. Added: There's also UD agent still in the running so on a stretch WCG have 32+ science apps to maintain. 64bit adds another 4-5.

Hi !
----------------------------------------I don't know if this statement can help but I can report the following situation regarding Boinc version and OS (32 and 64 as well): - because I ran different boinc versions on different computers, two weeks ago, I performed an update of all my crunching systems up to Boinc 5.10.13 - excepted once (but not occurring again), I did not experience any stability problem - since 7 days, a new crunching system is operating based on Windows XP SP2 64 bits with Boinc 64 bits, 5.10.13 The crunching systems are currently: - P4 HT, 3 GHz, 512 MB, Windows 2000 Pro, SP4 - P4, 1.6 GHz, 512 MB, Windows 2000 Pro, SP4 - Centrino, 1.8 GHz, 512 MB, Windows 2000 Pro, SP4 (laptop) - Core Duo, 2 GHz, 2 GB, Windows XP SP2 (laptop) - 2x Xeon 5345, 2.33 GHz, 4 GB, Windows XP64 SP2 The systems are crunching only for HPF2 (because I experienced several problems in the past with FAAH). I did not perform a benchmark on the Xeon based system between Windows XP SP2 32 bits and 64 bits. I have also no idea if the computation can be optimized on the task side for 64 bits boinc agent. If some people are interested, I can publish a short and informal "benchmark report" regarding the efficiency of each running configurations. Regards, |
